Nestled on the beautiful West Coast beaches of Costa Rica this Private Residence is located in Playa Negra. It was designed by The Costa Rica Design Group and received Honorable mention in the Holcim Sustainable Villages competition for Latin America. At almost 4000 Square Feet the client dreams were brought to life by CRDG in collaboration with various artists and designers. A clever and playful relationship was established between the interior and exterior spaces - like an unfolding origami the dwelling took advantage of integrating views, nature and its surrounding beauty.
Peter Preisler acted as consultant and contributed with lots of the Interior Design ideas, as well as curator for the many custom art pieces displayed through out the dwelling. Peter has, on numerous occasions, worked in collaboration with Christopher Morehead, the founder of CRDG.
Located in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world, the 26-acre L.A. Live entertainment district is the leading special events center on the West Coast. The district’s focal-point is a 55-story hotel and condominium complex featuring 123 Ritz-Carlton luxury hotel rooms, 224 Ritz-Carlton Residences and 878 J.W. Marriott hotel rooms. Just steps away from the STAPLES Center and Nokia Theater, the project features ballroom and meeting space, a fitness center, a rooftop pool and bar, and Wolfgang Puck’s WP24 Restaurant.
The Hotel & Residences at L.A. Live received the Mixed-Use Design Concept Award from the 38th Annual L.A. Architectural Awards. The Marble Institute of America awarded two 2010 Pinnacle Awards to L.A. Live for the Commercial Exterior and Interior categories.
Peter Preisler worked on the Webcor Builders Team as one of 70 employees overseeing the Construction Coordination of the Project. With his previous work experience he was appointed Assistant Superintendent for the Interiors construction of Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotels Public Areas and BOH at LA Live, Los Angeles (47000 SF). In addition to his position as Assistance Superintendent, AEG appointed him to be the main Coordinator of design issues which occurred daily during the construction of the Interiors. Peter was in charge of the “Clear the Path” meetings during which various parties were held accountable due to RFI or Submittal delays, critical design solutions, and vague design details.
The Santa Teresa private dwelling is one of the top class modern architectural statements built to date in Costa Rica. The idea and request from the client was to bring everything "inside out" or better yet..."outside in" to this approximately 2800Sf structure. In collaboration with the main architect, Christopher Morehead (COSTA RICA DESIGN GROUP), Peter Preisler participated with the design and successfully delivered this magnificent dwelling.
Cove is an 18-story high-end residential tower with 138 luxury condominiums and a 311-stall parking garage. The project’s amenities include a fitness center, pool and spa, conference and media rooms, and private wine storage. This signature California high-rise also features spectacular ocean and mountain views.
Working with Webcor Builders, Peter Preisler was tasked with the Owner, Buyers and Architects punch lists. During the punch list phase Peter coordinated over 33,000 punch list items between subcontractors and Ownership. The job was done on time and the punch lists reduced to the clients satisfaction within the specific time frames required.
The Californian on Wilshire is a 327,034 square-foot, 23-story, 74-unit luxury condominium tower with a 245-car, subterranean garage. This uniquely high-end project is distinguished by amenities such as marble exterior cladding, floor-to-ceiling windows, private elevators, a health club with lap pool, conference and media rooms, a catering kitchen, wine storage, library, and valet parking services.
The Californian was a joint venture of two development firms, California Landmark and the Chicago-based Fifield Companies. Both firms had a vision of beating all odds by offering complete customization for each of the 74 Luxury Condominiums - a true nightmare for any builder considering the plumbing stacks were not necessarily aligned. Webcor Builders managed to complete the job on time, and The Californian was the talk of the "Wilshire Boulevard Crowd" for months.
As a Project Manager, for Darrell Schmitt Design Associates, Peter Preisler spent many weeks on the Project Job Site while it was under construction. He was tasked with all design documentation, and the construction coordination of all the Public Areas Interiors.
Besides taking care of his and DSDA's scope of work, he assisted the architects, Nadel Architects, with general day-to-day Construction Administration coordination. It was during the construction of The Californian Peter was approached by Webcor Builders who invited him to join their team.
As Project Manager and Designer with Darrell Schmitt Design Associates Peter Preisler was tasked with the renovation of the Brentwood Country Club.
Nestled in the residential Los Angeles westside and located minutes from the Pacific Ocean, the Brentwood Country Club's facilities include an 18-hole, par 72, golf course, driving range, tennis courts, and year-round heated swimming pool. The epitome of country clubs, an equity membership favors family activities, celebration of holidays, and Club social events. The golf course elevates the standards of golf in Southern California.
This seemingly easy project turned out to be a day-to-day challenge due to unforeseen existing structural and mechanical problems as well as a very opinionated local Country Club committee.
At the end of the day, all members of the Country Club were hugely satisfied with the outcome of the renovation. Brentwood Country Club got a new "look/ Class Brand" which put it on the map of exclusive Country Clubs in Los Angeles.
Located in the heart of Fashion Island, Newport Beach, CA, The Marriott Hotel & Spa underwent several phases of major renovations throughout the entire Hotel. Faced with a very tight schedule Darrell Schmitt (Darrell Schmitt Design Associates) decided to let Peter project manage and design the renovation of the Spa.
It was quite a learning curve to understand the specific client requests. For this project Peter had to understand each Spa treatment offered at the spa and the treatments to each of the treatment rooms. The design and mill work in each room had to be coordinated with specific utensils and materials for each material.
At one point during the construction the architect was sick for several weeks. During this period Peter was challenged with covering the architects on-site coordination of the MEPS work associated with the project.
It all turned out to everyone's satisfaction.

Peter Preisler was one of the few Designers selected for the Design Charette for the Park Chennai Hotel. He was an intricate part of the Restaurant and Lobby Design.
The 575,000-sq.-ft. design-build project began in February 2003 with general contractor The Weitz Cos. of Phoenix. Developed by the Dev-Con International, LLC (Michael Sneyd), the Architecture by Hornberger & Worstell Inc, and the interiors by Hirsch Bedner Design Associates.
JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa blends into the desert by a skillful use of color, and actually brings the landscape inside with wall-sized windows. While it’s often hot outside, lightly tinted glass reduces glare and heat transfer. The style of the resort, designed by Hornberger & Worstell Inc, melds bold modern with accents from colonial Spain and the Old West. Nothing here feels mass-produced, despite the property’s immense scale. For instance, the saguaro rib and heavy beam ceiling of the lobby soars two stories above you, but the seating areas offer a cozy ranch home setting. The small groupings of leather chairs, heavy wooden tables and red and turquoise rugs suggesting Navajo or Mexican geometric designs help create the unique sense of place. Outdoors landscaping mimics the surrounding desert, with low water-use native plants and minimal disruption of nature. The Tucson hotel itself occupies about 50 acres while the remainder is a golf course and casitas also managed by JW Marriott.
Typical hotel rooms are 425- sq.- ft. with granite countertops, stone tiles, smooth trowel walls, radius corners and other high-end finishes. In the lobby, designers created a stone feature wall to give visitors the impression the new resort sprung up around what was left of an old homestead. Latillas and vigas are also used to provide a Southwestern accent. Dry stack stone is used in both the architecture and landscaping.
Besides the 27-hole golf course, there will be a spa, five pools and restaurants. The convention center will feature a grand ballroom with two 40,000-sq.-ft. indoor meeting spaces and a 20,000-sq.-ft. outdoor patio.
Working with HBA, Peter Preisler was tasked to coordinate all of the interiors with the Architects, MEPS Trades and the Developer.

Architectural Concepts Inc. designed an elegant mission style 35,000 SF conference center with a ballroom, executive boardroom and full service kitchen. The work resulted in a landmark bell tower with ceramic mosaic dome, trellised courtyard for functions and an oval boardroom accentuating the corner of the structure. In addition, ACI renovated the spa/athletic center which became a model for the Westin Brand. It was ACI that introduced a black and brown wood palette (now a Westin signature look) with backlit glass panels for the wall treatment.
